Istanbul is a terrific and bustling city. With more than 12 million people, it has a greater population than all of Greece. I had a terrific guide in Istanbul, Ole, another great Servas host. Ole, who is originally from Denmark, now lives in Istanbul working as a teacher and artist. He gave me the start to a terrific tour of the old part of Istanbul, the golden horn, but many of the best sights were closed due to heightened security for the Pope, who happened to be visiting Istanbul at the same time.. It was great talking to Ole, and great to see some of the city with him, but I know that I only scratched the surface of Istanbul. I would love to return at some point and see more of the city and more of Turkey in general. Next time I'll check the Pope's schedule.
