From San Sabastion I traveled further west in Spain, to Bilboa. I was impressed with the city, but my main draw was the infamous Guggenheim designed by Frank Gehry. The building itself is an amazing sculpture and a fitting home for exhibitions of modern art that challenge the status quo. The design of the building is themed after two major characteristics of Bilbao, ships and ocean. Whatever the design intent, the building is a captivating work of art that adds to the landscape of Bilbao.

I heard a rumor that the initial aluminum sheeting was too reflective and was causing problems for the Bilbao airport...any truth to that?
