From London, England I caught a flight to Athens, Greece. The ruins were incredible – so much history in one corner of the world. The modern city of Athens wasn't as exciting as the evidence of its former self, but it was a great experience all around. I didn't stay with a family in Athens, but the people I did meet were friendly and welcoming.
